Uluwatu

South Bali

about

Uluwatu

Uluwatu, Bingin, and the Pecatu village areas are the most famous locations in the southernmost part of Bali, often visited by surfers. The southern beaches are the most suitable for riding the waves on the island. Surfers from all over the world flock to places like Uluwatu, Padang Padang, and Bingin. The waves here can be powerful and high, making this area more suitable for experienced riders.

Apart from surfing, the area is renowned for the beautiful and brightest beaches in Bali, which include Nyang-Nyang, Green Bowl, Dreamland, and Thomas Beach, among others.

All are suitable for sunbathing, snorkeling at low tide, or frolicking in the wild waves at high tide.

The area is quiet and virtually free of traffic jams (except Pecatu), with lovely restaurants and cafes. There are plenty of shops and a variety of restaurants for everyday life. Many people have recently moved to Uluwatu from overcrowded Canggu.

The area is also trendy among digital nomads, so you can "network" at places like Drifters, The Loft, Nourish, The Space, etc.

You can also find renowned bars and party places like Single Fin, Savaya, and Cashew Tree. You don't have to worry about the lack of nightlife.

The cliffs up to 100m high along the beaches belong to one of the best places in Bali to watch the sunsets, for example, at the famous Hindu temple of Uluwatu, where you can also watch the daily traditional Balinese dance performance of Kecak.
