Munduk

Munduk is a small village in the mountains of north central Bali. It is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, including picturesque rice fields, waterfalls, and dense tropical forests.

For travelers who love nature and peace, Munduk is a great place to escape the effects of civilization. The village is located between 800 and 1,300 meters above sea level, which means it has a cooler climate than the coastal parts of the island and is an excellent option if you want to cool off from the coastal tropical sun for a few days.

One of the main attractions of visiting Munduk is discovering the many waterfalls here. Some of the most famous waterfalls are Munduk, Melanting, and Golden Walley, located a short distance from the village. It is possible to hike them through the forest and enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool water of the mountain rivers.

Munduk is also famous for its coffee plantations. You can take a tour, learn about the local coffee culture and taste the coffee produced in the area, including the renowned civet coffee (Luwak), which you will realize is largely more of a scam and marketing. We also recommend visiting the adjacent Wanagiri area and the pair of lakes, Tamblingan and Buyan, which are located nearby and offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. You can rent a boat on the lakes and explore the surrounding temples and villages.

This makes Munduk an ideal destination for travelers who want to spend more time in nature, cool off from the tropical temperatures and experience the authentic Balinese way of life.
