about
Denpasar
Denpasar is the capital of Bali, the island's leading transport and trade hub. It is a bustling city that combines traditional Balinese culture and modern amenities. In Denpasar, you can visit the frequent local markets, buy everything from fresh produce to handicrafts, and explore the historical monuments and temples spread throughout the city.
Denpasar may be a city, but it does not look like one. For example, you won't find tall glass office buildings here like in Jakarta. It gives the impression of a never-ending Balinese village with traffic jams and no apparent distinction between the different districts.
One of Denpasar's main attractions is the Bali Museum, which contains an extensive collection of Balinese art and cultural artifacts. Another popular destination is Puputan Square, a large public park with historic buildings and statues.
The traditional Pasar Badung market is also worth a visit. It is the largest market in Denpasar and a great place to explore the local culture. You will find a wide range of goods here, including food, spices, textiles, handicrafts, and arts.
In addition to this market, we recommend visiting the Satria Bird Market. It's a great cultural attraction, selling animals from chickens and turkeys to bats, owls, monkeys, cats, and more.
Another popular attraction is the Bajra Sandhi Monument, a large monument commemorating Bali's fight for independence. It is in the middle of a large park, and you can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding area from its top.
In general, Denpasar, as a capital city, could be more attractive and popular with tourists, but there are several exciting places to visit.
