about

Tumpek Landep

Tumpek Landep comprises the words Tumpek = close and Landep = sharp. Historically, the ceremony worshiped mostly daggers and knives, which helped not only in war but also in farming and agriculture to sustain the people.

In the current concept, it is a day when everything metal is worshiped, primarily cars and motorcycles. It is not uncommon for refrigerators or computers etc., to be worshiped. On this day is possible to see decorated cars and scooters with offerings on the streets. Balinese believe that through this blessing ceremony, they will be lucky and stay protected and safe on the roads.

Tumpek Landep is celebrated once every 210 days (1 year according to the Balinese calendar Pawukon).
